Save browser downloads for Windows players and editors

Use the browser's download shelf or Downloads folder to locate the file. If Windows does not open a format, check its codec support or choose another available option; changing .webm to .mp4 in the filename cannot convert the media. A 1080p or 4K stream may require more disk space and longer transfer time than a small clip. Keep the browser open until the transfer starts, and scan files from unfamiliar sources using your normal security tools before opening them.

On Windows, Chrome, Edge, and Firefox can save the selected video directly through their built-in download controls. YTMetadata reads the source formats and exposes available resolutions rather than manufacturing higher quality. Adaptive HD formats can arrive as separate DASH tracks; the server combines the selected video and audio into a single file before the browser saves it. MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio is widely supported by Windows playback and editing applications, while VP9, AV1, and WebM support varies across installed players.

3 Simple Steps

01

Copy the link

Open the video, tap Share → Copy link. Desktop users can just grab it from the address bar.

02

Paste it above

Drop the URL into the box and press Download. We read the available formats straight from the source.

03

Pick and save

Choose a resolution or an audio format. The file streams to your device and the name is set for you.

Tools built around the source video

No account, no extension, no watermark. Paste a link and the file is yours.

MP4 & WebM Up to 4K / 60fps MP3 & M4A Thumbnails Nothing stored

Every quality, mirrored

We surface exactly what the source exposes — 144p through 4K, 60fps included. Nothing is upscaled and nothing is re-encoded.

Streams in seconds

No queues, no waiting for a render to finish. The file is piped from the host to your browser as it arrives.

Nothing is stored

No accounts, no database of downloads, no re-hosting. Media is processed transiently and discarded the moment your transfer ends.

Works everywhere

Desktop, phone, tablet. The same link works in any modern browser, and every download works on any device.

Frequently asked questions

Which video format works in Windows Media Player?

MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio is a common compatibility choice, but support depends on Windows version and installed codecs. The MP4 extension alone does not identify the codec.

Can I rename a WebM download to MP4 to make it compatible?

No. Renaming changes only the filename, not the container or codec. Choose a compatible source format or use a media converter if you are authorized to convert the file.

Why is a high-resolution download taking longer on my PC?

1080p and 4K usually contain more data than low-resolution files. Completion time depends on file size, upstream delivery, and your connection, and the destination drive needs enough free space.

Where does Edge or Chrome save the video on Windows?

Unless you selected another location, the browser saves it in your Windows Downloads folder. Open the browser's download list to see the path and transfer status.
