Use Safari and Files to manage iPad video downloads
Safari's download list and the Files app show transfer progress and the saved location, usually Downloads or iCloud Drive depending on settings. You can move a completed file into another Files folder or use Share for compatible apps. Photos may reject some codecs even when Files can store them. iPad multitasking lets you keep a browser and Files visible together, but closing the browser or losing connectivity can interrupt a transfer. Reserve sufficient local storage for large 1080p and 4K files.
iPadOS Safari uses the system download manager, so a separate downloader app is not required. Paste a public video URL, review the available source formats, and select an MP4 resolution. The source may offer a progressive file or adaptive DASH video and audio tracks that are muxed into one output. H.264/AVC with AAC in MP4 is commonly supported by Apple playback software; newer formats can work in other apps but compatibility depends on the iPad model and installed software.
